Default Dragracing with T5 transmission

How safe is it to dragrace moderatley with a stock T5 transmission? I have a 92 mustang lx convertable with frame strengtheners, cold air intake, king cobra clutch, longtube headers, upgraded flywheel and driveshaft. I've just purchased some MT street radials 275/60 15in (225/50 16in stock)to bring my times down (14.2@98mph). The car spins all of first and part of second, causing major time loss. I have been warned that the transmission may be too weak to take the abuse. The tranny was rebuilt 3k ago, and car has 122k on it. Please give me some input. Is the transmission really that weak? Should I really be that concerned with a stock motor?

They are rated at 300lbs of torque.

If you don't mind me asking, what is a frame strengthener? subframe connectors

Also, some cars bog and slow down with slicks...or they do in the 1/8th anyway.

You're not going to help your times by putting a 28" tire on basically a stock car. If anything, you're gonna lose time. Do you gave gears in the car? My wifes car ran a best of 14.32 @ 97-98mph. Hers is a 90 stock vert w/ some under drives, h-pipe and the air silencer removed. 3.55 gears and running on 26" ET drags. You should have went w/ a 26" tire. You're going to be very disappointed.

As for my car, I still have the stock t-5, my car puts out 406 torque and you can see from my sig pic I don't baby the launch. My point is, anything can break at any given time, regardless of how well something is built.

My T-5 has been behind the 347 for three years now. I've never launched it with slicks but have drag raced it three times and powershifted. Still managed a 1.89 60 ft on street tires. I don't go that often. The trans was rebuilt before I got the car over 6 years ago.
