based on the tag number it is most likely NWC........apart from that upon tearing it down , non world class t-5's are identified by brass blocker rings on gears 1-4 instead of the carbon fiber/ paper materialed ones w/c t-5's have

do you happen to know what year car that t5 came out of? 85+ are WCT5's 84- are just t5's. either way with my original t5 out of my 84 i was using gm sycromesh which is actually recommended for those transmissions right from borg warner and it ran great in mine. my new trans is a WCT5 and i again use gm syncromesh and have never had a problem i think it shifts smoother than with atf.
