Default Any tips on removing Upper Strut Mounts

Replacing my front struts with some tokicos. Can't seem to break the top nut from the upper strut mount. Don't have a clamp to hold things in place and a screw driver just won't do.

Any tips suggestions are welcomed.

Thanks.

did you try an impact.i put a pair of vice grips on the strut itself so the shaft wouldnt turn while i impacted the nut off.

never gonna happen without an impact or a big damn pipe over a ratchet with a hell of a grip on the strut rod.

What if I just bought new Strut mounts and tossed these with the bad struts that I'm removing?

same problem, just in reverse. need an impact to get the nut all the way down.
well, you dont NEED it, but if you cant get these off, you aren't gonna be able to get the new ones all the way down either.

Understood. I'll have to visit the nearest autozone for an electric impact wrench.
