Default Need help with a strange VIN #

I just bought an 88 notch back 5.0 Regatta Blue mustang yesterday. This is a very perculiar car which was part of the draw and why I need your help. This is an automatic car that has 0 yes 0 options. By that I mean no ac, no power (except steering) anything....literally the most stripped down 5.0 you could buy with the exception of the automatic add on. I thought this was weird so I started looking into the VIN number and I hit a wall. In the VIN after the color code (P40) I have an EX and then it's the J like it should be. I can't find anything on this EX? Can anyone tell me what this means? Thanks for your help!

Assuming your vin is probably...

1FAFP40EXJ######
your car was built in the US
made by ford
is a passenger vehicle
built in 88
in dearborne michigan
is a notchback lx
and came with a 5.0

nothing weird about your vin at all
the "E" (8th Digit) is the 5.0 engine code

1FABP if that makes a difference? Weird, must have had a crappy site before as it said there wasn't an EX code on a VIN.

1FAFP and 1FABP arent any different. The ford vin does not reflect any options on the car except the body and engine.

also try
