How can the impact socket fit, when the bolt gets further into the hole?

no need to worry about that when you're using the actual bolt for the balancer, and not the install tool.

When the bolt goes further into the hole, about 3 inches of the center bolt with be sticking out and there is no socket 3 or 4 inches long to reach the bolt.

If I do it that way, isn't there a chance I can mess up something?

So when you installed your balancer, you made sure the balancer is lined up properly. Then you put the crank bolt back it and zap it with your impact. When you did this, did the balancer go in straight and even? Isn't there is a chance the balancer can go in uneven? I know the installation tool helps the balancer go in straight and even.

things can go wrong, yah, but as long as you're not a dummy about it, you'll be good. get the bolt in as far as you can by hand, then zip it down. it can't get cockeyed once its on.

dont continue to crank in it once the bolt bottoms out, it does have a torque spec to it, but you won't have issues as long as you dont let the gun go full force.

Did you heat up your balancer before you installed it?
