The ideas don't stop. Roots blower?

Blow through carb with a TT would be nice. Carb is carb, they all tune the same way, you just need to get the right carb for the application and tune it properly. Blow through setups can be more difficult to tune, and also aren't as forgiving. A low compression 347 with the 174 blower at around 12-14psi would work really well and make a crapload of bottom end torque. There are air-water charge coolers for those that are used in marine applications. There are a lot of options really.

Smaller blowers turning faster is nice on the roots, since it solves a lot of the leakdown issues. The problem with the 174 is it's rather small, but also pretty inefficient, so you'd be turning it at a rather high rpm to produce a relatively low pressure ratio. Great on a 302-347, but it would probably have some issues on a well built 427.
Interesting example on a 351w...
Couldn't help much with carb'd. I've only built kits for fuel injected vehicles & only read about carbed setups, never actually built one... so no experience.

if you run a cog belt then u have a pop off valve on the side of the intake, or on some set ups they use a burst plate instead of slipping the belt. the marine intercoolers work great my dad runs one under the 8-71 on our boat, made a big difference. oh and those two lobe rotors are noisy as hell had one on our old boat motor never had a problem with the blower jus sounds like they are gunna come apart its wierd. haha

I posted a link to Paxtons Carbureted superchargers in one of the other threads.
They have a kit for 85 Mustangs but it's pricey.
I have zero experience with it but I am intrigued for my 85 build.
On the right hand side of the page you will see a photo of a 65 stang called Sinister Stang. That car is pushing your target of 650hp with a 347 stroker and a 1500 Novi setup. It's not a roots style but it's All under the hood.
Then again you are probably already aware of it.

The 2, 3, & 4 lobe designs can be very loud depending on case design. Since the 3 lobe most companies started putting sound slits on them to reduce the noise in everyday cars. Welding them up will make them very loud & it's good for a small power gain (around 5-10hp depending on the s/c)
