OK, so are you sure it's coming from the wheel?

I'm gonna go with aftermarket wheels, using the wrong lug nuts, without a hub ring.

What do I win?

A Mustang friend who has rebuilt his 89 suggested that it could be the speedometer cable as it comes out of the transmission. What do you think of that suggestion? Can it be greased and how would I do it?

Update on chirping noise.

I obtained some help from my Mustang friend to disconnect the speedometer cable and gear from the transmission and put the speed senor back in to keep the fluid in and went for a test drive. NO chirping at all. So, the chirping was coming from either the cable or the speed sensor. I needed to replace the gear anyway since I bought the car with a 3.73 rear end in it, and the gear in the transmission had not been changed to correct the speedometer.

I plan to purchase a new speedometer cable and 23 tooth gear from Ford tomorrow, and I should have both problems solved. Unless anyone who is more experienced than I has any more input. And I do appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks for everyone's thoughts. The forum is very helpful.

Default short update

A new speedometer cable was installed, and the chirping noise is gone. At the same time, I installed a 21 tooth gear from Ford to get my speedometer closer to being accurate. I bought the car with 3.73 gears in it, but the speedometer gear had not been replaced to correct the speed. It was 20 mph off at 60 (it was reading 80). Now with a 21 tooth gear, it is reading 10 mph off. So, I just ordered a 23 tooth gear to try to get it closer to the correct mph.

Thanks for all the help on the forum.
