Default Front spring install.

Yes I did a search and found this.

https://mustangforums.com/forum/5-0-...y-301f150.html

Has anyone done this and not removed the strut from the car. Only undoing the bottom 2 bolts to free it from the spindle and just letting it dangle there while you swap out the spring?

How about the spring. Do you think a spring compressor is neccessary to get a Eibach Pro out and a FRP 5300B spring in?

I know it's a squeeze with a stock springs since these 2 springs are a tiny bit shorter I was a wondering.

Why disconnect the brake line? Isn't unbolting it from it's bracket and supporting it in the back of the wheelwell less work?

I did the install and only unbolted the strut to spindle bolts. I didn't even touch the brake lines, just unbolted the caliper and tied it out of the way. I also unbolted the endlink and was able to get the arm low enough to get the spring out. Putting the spring back in was a PITA for me. I ended up buying a compressor.

You do not need to remove the strut, just disconnect from spindle. Pretty much covered it by the previous post, but you will need a compressor for the prokit spring, its much longer than youd think

Yea, I had been told I could do it without the compressor, but I did not see how it would get pried in there. Just check local autoparts stores and see if you could rent a suitable compressor, to save a lot of time and frustration.

if you dont have the money to buy a spring compressor. if you let the control arm hang all the way down and get the top of the spring caught i can use a ratcheting tie down and loop through the bottom of the spring and through the hole in the control arm and hook it around a tree or anouther car and crank it as tight as you can they jack up the control arm you can get it in. it is a pita but it got the job done for me.

yes, you CAN do it without a compressor. But, at times that can get very sketchy as springs under pressure are very dangerous.

If you dont want to use a compressor, you can remove the two control arm bolts and drop the entire arm down, then use a strap as mentioned before for re installation

Most auto part stores rent them or, in Autozone's case, they take a fully refunded deposit
