time and time again this subject has been covered, there is no substitute for checking for length with a proper tool

With the cam Im using comp recommends the 1.7 magnum roller rocker kit that comes with pushrods. I know you said there is no substitute for measuring so should I just buy the rockers at this point and measure and buy the pushrods seperate or would the ones in the kit be the correct length for the whole setup.

I have a feeling you are going to tell me to measure but just wanted to ask anyways.

^^^^^^^^you can buy the kit but you'll still need to mock assemble it and check the roll out on the stem tip to see where the pattern is, for the last two weeks I have been performing all the checks on my 306 for my 89 that I'm building, from degreeing the cam to checking for ptv vertical and radial wise as well as checking all 16 valves for the run out that the roller tip leaves to make sure it is on the money, and today at lunch I was checking for coil bind on all 16 springs......it has taken a while to perform all the checks as it involves swapping the solid lifters for checking to each bore, but there will be no doubt when I fire this motor up that all is well, and once I bolt the intake on I will smoke test it on a stand for any vaccum leaks. so as you can see I try to leave no second guessing for issues to arise

Definately measure.. You need an adjustable pushrod, and a pair of light weight checking springs.. If you don't want to do the checking springs then you need to convert one of your hyd. lifters to a solid lifter for measuring the pushrod length. Once measured @ zero lash then you would add .020" - .060" to your measurement for preload..

Here is a thread that explains converting your hyd. lifter to a solid. Also explains measuring pushrod length. The thread is for stud mount rockers, but for measuring pushrods it will be the same.
