Unhappy Idle/Low fuel pressure?

I finally got my car back up and running, it now has a 3g alternator from PA performance, new TFI module, starter solenoid, electric ignition switch, wires fusable links, etc etc etc.

So i got all excited when it cranked up and i noticed my fuel pressure was sittin right at about 28-29psi, Which i know is pretty low. This is an autometer gauge, which i trust, but the guy who owned the car before me put the gauge in, which i do not trust. So i'm not sure if its the gauge or the installation or if the fuel is even a problem but just as a precaution i replaced my fuel filter.

Now the car idles very rough and will climb up to 2000 and drop down and is doing all kinds of crazy stuff and when it gets revved it "hits a wall" so to speak around 4k RPM's. it will continue to slowly climb but its got a really rough time.

Any idea's?

the fuel pressure is probably ok.29 with vac line on seems ok.pull the vac line on the regulater and it should show about 39. with your other probs my only suggestions are check your timing, firing order.since you did allot of electrical stuff you probably mixed something up. figure out what's wrong and don't rev it.you can screw your motor up. take your time. the other guys probably have better answers but start simple.

You need to have the car running to get the correct FP reading. You want to unplug the vacuum line going to the regulator and put your finger over the line, and then see what the gauge says.

I would also check your timing as well.

How does the car idle when it running ? What RPM ?

for a fox FP should be around 40 to 45 is what i read so 29 seems a bit short. I just bought a timing light, i dont know how to do timing but my Dad does so i'm going to have him look at the car. i know i have to have the car running to get the correct FP, and when the car is running its reading 29 PSI. Where is the regulator your talking about, and is there only one vacuum line on it?

When the car is started and idling it won't sit on a still RPM, it will range up from about 500 to 2000, usually under 1000 though.

The FP regulator is on the passenger side at the rear of the fuel rail. It is about 1" diameter and is over the #8 injector. It only has one vacuum line to it. Usually Red plastic with a rubber 90 degree elbow at the regulator.

My 08 idles @ 34psi and has about 40 with no vacuum on the regulator.. My idle pressure is a little high due to the lower vacuum of the E-303 cam. Was about 32psi with the stock cam.

You can see it here on the left fuel rail

wow thank you for the picture, pics are always helpful. I am going back up to college here in a few hours and i won't have time to do this before i go, but i can get my Dad to do that as well. I also have an E cam, would that be accouting for lowing FP?

No the cam will not really have anything to do with it, You need to set it to 39 with the vacuum line off and plugged.

Miune has been doing the same thing minus the fuel pressure problem.I have problem with the idle bouncing like that but my car will die.So far I have replaced all my sensors and no change.I am now in the process of taking the fiber spacer out from in between the upper and lower intake. From everyhting I have been told, check MAF sensors and check for vacuum leaks,I am in the process of that now.
If that doesnt work for me though,I am switching the car over to carb and calling it a day,I am so tired of the problems with Fuel injection. It sucks when it is broke, too many sensors.
