There is an 85' T-top GT for sale locally for 2800 bucks. The body is in awesome shape, no rust or rot, some good engine and exhaust goodies, some suspension work, ect. The only things stopping me from buying it is that he says you need to hold the shifter in 2nd gear until the clutch is fully engaged, other wise it pops out of second. He says once the clutch is fully engaged it stays in gear perfectly fine. What would be causing that? The second thing stopping me is it has an A/C delete, and while the Chicago heat doesn't bother me, the humidity with the heat kills me. So how much would it be to buy and re-install AC? If I were to buy it I would try to get it for about 2500.

You shouldn't have to hold it on gear. Sounds like a shift dog to me as well.
2800 is too much for me- even with 90k miles. Especially considering that you will be pulling the transmission out soon.
The A/C can be put back in, just make sure he/she hasn't removed the air plenum/evaporator behind the dash. That's a major pain to reinstall. Hooking up the rest of system isn't too hard. Unless this is a true AC delete car- that was not included from the factory- then forget about trying to put it in.
