You talking about the cat converters?
I would buy a new H-pipe with a pair of high flow converters in it or an Off-road H-pipe.
The hollowed out cats cause too much turbulence and are restrictive.

You just lost some low end torque, but gained top end power. Backpressure helps produce torque.

You will still gain from getting an aftermarket hpipe.

You guys who believe you need to restrict the exhaust and create back pressure to produce torque are RETARDS!!!!, IF you want to get back your lost torque stuff a potato in the tail pipe...lol, read this and edumacate yourselves!!!http://sbftech.com/index.php/topic,20305.15.html

Backpressure is a bad thing any way you look at it. What you lost was the scavenging effect caused from the velocity of the exhaust gasses at lower rpm. Changing exhaust tube diameter changes at what rpm the scavenging is most effective. Ideally you want the most scavenging with the least amount of resistance. When you make the pipe diameter bigger you lower the exhaust velocity & the resistance, the problem is slowing the velocity hurts performance. Basically, there is no all range exhaust. Your pipe diameter is chosen based on where you want the most power. Smaller = more low end hp/tq, bigger = more high end hp/tq.

mjr and fox are both correct. look at top fuel cars, 8 straight pipes off the side of the motor, 0 back pressure.

for a more real world example, look at my car. headers feed the turbos, and from there its just straight piping all the way back. the car makes plenty of torque down low and tons of power up top

I never have as much time as I'd like to look around. Thanks for the recommendation, I'll have to check it out sometime.
