Did you change the right temp sensor? You have two of them. Does the gauge not work at all or is it just not reading right?

not working at all and i changed the 1 by front of intake passenger side where is other?

what kind of shape are the wires in on the connector for the manifold coolant temp sensor?

The 2nd temp sensor is in on the back side of the intake.

No. The temp sensor you replaced is a 2 wire hookup, that is the computers sensor for fuel metering. The temp sensor for the gauge is on the other side of the distributor, a 1 wire hookup.

Well, they are different functions. What you replaced is the coolant temperature sensor (2-wire), what you need to try is the temperature sending unit(1-wire). The temperature sending unit only has one terminal on it, much like the oil pressure sending unit.

I guess I said all of that to say, they are different items.

its not called the temp sending unit. at the zone its classified as the temp switch. it took me forever to find it and the guy at the zone was useless so i had to take over using the comp lol

LMAO, Thats what you get for going to the Zone, it sucks, but I know we all have to go these places from time to time. AutoZone is stupid, BTW, since that item doesnt 'switch' anything, a switch is either on or off. If you look on AdvanceAutoParts.com, they call it a sending unit, and also www.latemodelrestoration.com.
