Default 5.0 Ideas....

Well I don't know much about gassers, I just picked up a 1987 rag top stang last night, rebuilt motor last year with a few miles on it. The problem I have now is a fueling issue. It will idle but it dosen't like loads on the engine..Where is the fuel pump on these cars/filter. Also what is the best cam for a mild lope, And exhaust. I love bolt on HP but I don't know were to start on this car. How would I get to the mid 12's possibly lower Some day I'd love to have a mid 10 second street track car.

Thanks, John

fuel, pump is in the tank and your ride is speed density so you don't want a cam that lopes / messes with vaccum

the fuel filter is just by the tank tword the middle of the car.

you can get a mild cam such as any ford letter cam, or a trickflow stage 1 cam. but as MJR stated, without a Mass Air Flow, it could make the car run like hell.

I would do little bolt on's, swap the car over to a MAF set up, then do head's and cam at the same time.

if you do the above mod's (full bolt on, head/cam/intake, gears, sticky tires) it will be a 12 second car with you shifting like a grandma!

Well I got the stang running for a few seconds with either. My buddy thinks the fuel pump is bad still. But when you turn the wheel, It likes to die???

I don't know much about these cars so what kind of problem do I have. Would it be some kind of wire in the coloum?

Also how do you change it over to the MAF? Also somebody told me about the ICV, If you clean it, It would idle better? Or should I just convert it over to old school carb.

IAC Idle air control, its bolted on the side of your throttle body. also set your TPS throttle position sensor.
