Your master cylinder is most likely shot, Seals are probably worn out.

well the only time when the pedal gets stiff is when the car is off. Does that make a difference? So I guess that means the master is the one that has to be replaced right? Can someone with berly any experience with brakes be capable of changing the master or is it to complicated?

Ya it seems easy enough Im taking auto mechanics and I saw someone doing one you just have too bleed the seals.

its simple, really. 2 bolts hold it to the booster, and the 2 lines on it.
if you have 2 pairs of vice grips, clamp down the 2 front rubber lines near the calipers so your bleeding will go a bit easier. this will put a line lock effect on the lines so fluid and/or air will not enter/leave the lines.

after it is installed, you need to bleed all 4 wheels, starting with the furthest from the master(pass. rear) and ending with the closest(driver front).
