dont bother stroking the motor if you arent prepared to buy a 185-190cc aluminum head. stock heads ported or not are a joke on a 302 let alone a 347. you can get some used afr's for about $1000-1300. factor that into your budget

if that's the case dont even worry about stroking it. porting stock heads barely gives a stock engine any more horsepower

$2000 stroker, why not do a good h/c/i combo? What are you trying to do with the car? You only mentioned "stroker" and "big cam" so I'm curious, there might be some better options for you.

you need to do more research, no stroker should have a set of ported e7 heads, your budget will barely cover a properly built 331/347 short block....earn some more money and do some more research

i myself am slowwwwly putting together my plans for my engine...

i'm planning to do a 331, NOT a 347... what research i've done says that stroking to 347 leaves such short pistons that you compromise the o-rings and the integrity of the piston head... 302->347 stroker is short-lived compared to a 302->331. anyone who has information to the contrary please correct me.

from what i've found out so far, it looks like it's going to cost me $4k-$5k to build an engine myself, slowly and meticulously, in my garage.

my first stop is going to be 3.73's, a new trak-lok, and 31-spline axles in the spring.

then a tko-600 trans... chassis reinforcements... ultimately engine build.

do it slow and do it right .
