If you're looking at getting heads, just wait until then to do the cam otherwise you'll likely be buying another cam.

Also if you did decide to do a cam with the stock heads (not worth it imo) then you would want to stay somewhat mild and still should consider changing valve springs especially if it's a higher mileage motor.

Best heads for the money would be used. Figure out your budget first and then go from there.

There are much better heads than the GT40 aluminum for the same money. Head and cam depends on what you want to do with the car, something for drag racing is going to be different than something for highest mileage, or even road racing. And you don't want to just stick the biggest cam in that you can, since it could just lead to having an engine that runs like crap all the way around. If you're going to swap heads later on, then just keep the cam you have now, and when you do the head swap get a custom cam ground from Flow Tech or Camshaft Innovations for what you want to do with the car.

I plan on making it a street/strip car. Dont want a full blown drag car i have an 79 z28 camaro for that. Makes perfect sense to wait for the cam until i do the heads. what heads should look for then? i lookin to spend around 800-900 bucks on a set of good heads.
