Default TPS on a 95 GT

Hey all, I need help with my TPS on my 95 5.oh I don't want to go poking holes in the wires without knowing which wires are which, as they are different than the pre-94 Stangs. What colors are what? I have a gray/red, gray/brown and a gray wire. TIA.

its actually a brown/white wire, probably what you called gray/brown, thats the voltage referance wire. just probe that wire with the red lead, and ground the black lead, that will give you your tps voltage. im sure you know how to adjust it from there. also, its recomended to do it at idle, not KOEO with the 93-95 vehicles. i dont know why though

I just got my 5.0 Mustang and Superfords mag today and they covered this issue on page 190. If you get that mag, check your mailbox and pg. 190. If not, let me know and I'll type in what they wrote about it.

Thanks, both of you. And Slick, I have that issue, thanks for pointing that out.

OK, probing the brown/white wire, I get a whopping 5v, and twisting the sensor as far as it will go does not change the voltage. When I probe the solid gray wire, I get .9v, and again, rotating the sensor does not change it. Guess I better get a new TPS.

what is making you think it is bad. ive seen alot of voltmeters not read the TPS right. so i would still get the codes pulled b/fore spending the dough

For starters, my idle is very erratic, to the point it dies sometimes, and because my voltmeter, which works on other things I try it on, doesn't register change when I try twisting the TPS. I will, however, grab a neighbors voltmeter and give it a shot. Thanks for your input.

the problem with the more expensive voltmeters is they usually have autorange, which makes it very hard to get a reading. if youre using one without autorange then thats not your problem. try probing it, then rotating the throttle, this is how you check to see if its working. you should get right below 5v at WOT. if the idle is what youre worried about its probably not the TPS, migh want to clean youre maf, and check the connections on the maf, and on the iac. is it a cold problem, or all the time problem.

MAF is clean, will check the connectors. My idle never goes up, but drops every other time I drive, and it happens all the time. I cleaned up my IAC when I put in my new tbody a while back. Is this because I have a few mods done? Ported heads w/oversized valves, cam, headers, RRs, tbody, MAF, injectors and CAI? Would a dyno tune with a SCT chip help out?
