actually heres th elow on the exploder cam it is designed for more tourqe so it wont have the top end of a stang Ho cam, however just so know partway into 97 they changed to the gt40 P head which either need a p specific header or 90 towncar tubular headers, not sure if the townie header will work with a stang or not though,
HO cam will swap directly over as with any roller 302 87 up
also upgrade the spring for the exploder heads! they are kinda weak. if you want a more topendish camother than a stock HO a trickflow stage 1 or a comp XE264 will work nicely with some gears
make sure that you swap all appropiate acc and oil pana nd timing cover and that sort of thing
just so it be known both explorer and Ho cam will make a towncar or crownvic fly pretty well so they both work, however the explorer cam is done somethign like 4500 rpm or some such not sure without looking it up
happy hunting mang!

ahh, i kept reading that the HO and the normal 5.0 had different firing orders so i thought the cam swap couldn't be done. my bad
this engine will probably get the nuts worked outta it on a budget so it'll be good lol.

they DO have different firing orders... but the cam is what dictates the firing order...
