Please help, Electric Fan problem
Ok i just got done hooking up a pro form electric fan, it has a built in thermostat probe that presses into the radiator, start the car at about 180 fan kicks on for about 30 seconds then it turns off, temperature keeps rising and fan only runs like 30 seconds at a time, once it got like 205 i decided just to shut it off fan cycles maybe one more time (with the key off) and then doesnt come back on at all, temp hits almost 210, im wondering even if i hook up a toggle switch and run it 24/7 is there even a point to have it?

Its possible that the lead wiring to the fan controller is too small, heating up the box and activating a thermal switch to kill it to prevent damage. too high of a voltage output(Bad reg. on alt.) could cause this too.
also you shouldnt have it wired to run without the key on, thats dangerous and unneccesary.

the controller is integrated into the top of the fan, i got the power coming straight from the battery terminal, it needed at 12v low amp connection so i ran that to radio power, and then theres a ground, all the connections are good, i dont understand why the fan ran with the key off either cause its hooked to the radio, i can put a toggle switch on it but id rather it control itself like its supposed to

You may have the probe too close to the fan.
Possibility that you engine is in fact seeing 200, just like the gauge says, which is read ing the temperature of the coolant in the engine.
Now your probe is eventuall going to also see 200. It finally does, fans run and cools the sensor and shut the fan back off. Cycle keeps repeating and nobody is getting anywhere. Just a guess.

im so ****in pissed i pulled the fan out. put the probe into the radiator like its supposed to, and besides that point hooked up the manual switch so the fan runs 24/7 and even still it will get up to 200 even at highway speeds w the fan running, is it true the small amount of coolant i lost out the overflow could be causing this?

no, you'd have to have less than half capacity for a car to overheat on the highway, as long as you weren't pinning it. i'd start looking into other culprits, like a plugged system or a bad water pump.
lightly grab the hoses going to the heater core and see if they are both hot. heater core being plugged is the most common.
