Default TFS Stage 1, 1.6 or 1.7

I posted a little while ago about this but with two cams that were too much for my heads. So I ordered the TFS cam, now should I go with 1.6's or 1.7 roller rockers. Or should I keep my stockers, but I doubt that.

Im just worried about PTV contact. Plus GT40P's only flow good till around .500 lift. And the TFS cam is at like .490/.510 already (something like that).

Friends garage had young Marine that was pulling Trick Flow heads off his 332 with stage 2 cam and 1.7 rockers last week. Yup 8 bent exhaust valves. Anyone gets the urge for that I seen what happens. It ain't pretty. He didn't ask anyone just tried.

Sounds like the time when I had the timing off on my old 4.6 out of my 98. Never rotated it by hand, except I did worse then bend a few valves. I snapped them off, as well as the cam followers, and put a few nice dents a couple of pistons.

Always, always check piston to valve clearance anytime you are changing any valve-train parts.
Keep at least .100" of clearance and you'll be fine.
Lift of the camshaft has very little to do with p?v clearnace anyway.......

ok... answer this..

if you buy a cam with .510 lift... and P heads flow crap over .500... how long do you think the valve is running over .500 lift?

seems to me like, you would want the car to be at or around its peak flow potential, for as long as possible...

lift has nothing to do with ptv issues which is essentially what a 1.7 rocker does, your buddy had a mismatch , most strokers if built right for use with tfs heads often run the companion piston for such with the rotated valve reliefs to match the rotated valved head..........if ptv occured it may have been a result of radial ptv, a picture of the piston and valves/damage can determine the root cause as well as an over rev / valve float could of casued damage.
