Default which automatic

What would be the best automatic transmission for my current setup (in sig) plus room for engine upgrades?
Will be used for street/strip.

Thanks

well build aod or c4 could handle it...but i love the c-6 for durability reasons. damn close to bullet proof from the factory. building a c-4 , yes it robs less power, but in no way as durable..but in mild power behind a sbf, you would be fine with a nice built aod, or c-4 if you dont really care about over drive

built AOD or a 4r70w with a full manual valve body. for OD, you didn't say what gear you are running and how much driving you are gone to be doing. On the cheap and strong but no OD C-4 all the way.

right now I'm in the process planning new drive-train from wheels, brakes, spindles, rear diff, to transmission. Thinking right now of 3.73 gear or 4:10. planning on doing plenty of engine upgrades but doing drive-train first.

I've seen too many people blow their tranny and diff from an engine too powerful. Even if it was only 100+ more than stock.

if your going to street drive it a lot, your going to want an aod or 4r70w so you have od. if your not going to run on the street often then c4. stay away from the c6, its very heavy, robs ton of power from the motor and is anything but bullet proof in stock form or even built up.

fwiw, i have an aod behind my motor and its holding up quite well. daily drove the car for about 7 months then the car sat for a year and now i just finished a year of racing with it. no worse for the wear and thats launching on boost with a trans brake. hope to get at least another 2 years out of it before needing a rebuild but im making quite a bit of power so we'll see

C-4 would be the way to go. You have no where near the HP it would take to waste it out anyway.
Ford's new Super Cobra Jet factory racers are using modified C-4's, that's how strong they really are.....

Unless your making sick hp there is no reason for a c6. If your driving the car on the street alot 410s and a c4 is not going to like anything over 50-60 with out heating up the trans.
Aod's are good you can run the car on the street and still run on the hywy at 70. In either case and over sized trans cooler should keep things under wraps, make sure you invest in a trans temp gauge. Its cheap insurance for maintaining good trans temps also adding a fan on the tc can also help keeping the trans cool on the hot days or stuck in traffic....
