Current set up is a stock 93 cobra motor with a vortech V3 Si-trim pushing 10 psi..car made 386rwhp and 412rwtq other mods are 42 lbs injectors matching 76mm c&l maf, full exhaust with no cats, anderson power pipe, and 3.73 gears guna finish this season with this set-up since the blower was just added (next to come some rear controls arms and sub-frame connectors with either hooisers or mickeys)

around this time next year I wana get a block that will hold a lot of power with forged internals, which will be good for boost..any opions on which block..thinking about a anderson b-51 cam, twisted wedge 205 heads or afr's, and a holley systemax intake for the built motor on 14-15 psi of boost..just trying to get an idea on a future build for next year
so wat block and is that a good h/c/i setup for boost opinions on anything are greatly appreciated thanx

Dart Sportsman, Ford Boss etc. An affordable sportsman/mild race iron block. But if you're spending that kinda cash already on a block, just spend the extra $350 for a custom cam, it'll make more power more reliably.

and if you can't afford those older windsor blocks on stock block 302 with that much power you on borrowed time.....

if you could find a Mexican block they will hold the 600 hp also. or just do a Windsor engine and be done with it more CID and a much better block if you wanted to go that route but then you would have to buy more parts again like a intake and oil pan distributor and so on.

Since when are mexican 302's stronger? I've never heard of this.

They are made with a higher nickel content but they are still not much better then a 302 from the 80s+ same 2 bolt design your still living on borrowed time.

Some people will say mexicans are only 'a little stronger', while others swear up and down theyve been low nines for 5 years on one..... Depends on who you talk to.



One thing you CANT deny though, is that mexican block mains are thicker than stock mains, all you have to do is look at side by side pics of them to tell that the mexican is most definitely a beefier block..

2 bolt mains are hardly weak. When was the last time you saw someone rip the main cap off the main or have a main bolt failure? That rarely happens. What DOES happen is that the flimsy main on 302 blocks will come clean out all in 1 piece with the cap still bolted on nice and tight. That and the higher nickel content as well as the stronger lifter valley make the mex blocks sturdier. The later 302's had metal removed from the lifter valley and main webs to save weight, which is why they nearly always fail through the lifter valley or in the main webs.

there is lots of info out on it do some research there is a whole write up on it over at the Turbo Forums. There is much more to it then just thicker main caps also. I may have one for sale soon also if anyone is looking.
