The motor i want to build is going to cost me to much right now. i am only 18 and i cant afford to build it. so i think i will wait till after school. but anyways i was looking on summit and found this crate engine. here is the part number do a search and check it out FMS-M-6007-XE3M. im just wondering if that motor is good for the amount of Hp it says it puts out. and also would i be able to put atleast 9 lbs of boost on this motor since the compression is low at 9:1?

I'd say if you got the money go ahead and get the engine, they are great and if you want more power from it you can still do a lot with that engine. If it were me and I had the money to spare I'd say hell yes.

that 345 HP they get is with the stuff they put on that is not included in the crate engine like the intake manifold/carb and so on. so if you put on what they said that got the 345 HP you can get that but you can get better numbers with better parts then they used. but if you use your stock intake you have now then you probally wont get those numbers. read this. you dont have to get it here since its 300.00 over summits price but they give a little more info than summit. http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc...76&prmenbr=361

I personally wouldn't put 9 lbs of boost on a GT-40 crate motor - cast crank, hyper pistons, not as durable as a pre 93 stock engine.
Personally I'd rebuild the existing engine and chuck a set of heads on it - with 24 lb fuel injectors and your existing setup you could save some money and have a better engine.

yeah i want to throw a RPM II manifold on there and a couple other things. i think i could get close to 345. then i will just wait a couple years and start slowly building a motor that can handle 14lbs of boost and be streetable. with this crate motor can anyone guess quarter mile times for it?
