Default H-pipe if I have flows?

I bought the car and it just came with the flowmaster 40 series muffler with stock pipes. It sounds nice but I know it can sound alot meaner. Can I just buy the o/r h-pipe? or should I get headers as well? Any performance gains if i get the h-pipe or is it strictly for sound? Would I need a catted h-pipe? Thanks for all the help, I'm still learning...

An O/R H whould sound meaner. But I would also putr on super 40's, instead of 40 series.

I'm confused about the catalytic converter...Should I just leave it there? Or do I take it out when i take my pipes out? Where exactly is it located? Before the muffler? Will it pass smog?

Sorry for all the questions, but I appreciate your help.

since you have emission you should do what most of the on here do and buy yourself a o/r h pipe you will gain about 10-15 more hp bc there are no cats on it and it will be a bigger diameter they are 2.5 in and the stock is 2.25 and yes it will bolt to your stock system if you are thinking that. The o/r hpipe will get you a louder and meaner sound and more performance. As for emission just keep your stock h pipe and when emissions come around bolt the stock one back one and get it tested and then put the o/r hpipe back on when your done.

Are there any sensors or anything you have to worry about when switching the pipes out? Thanks again.

Keep your mufflers now and buy a BBk Off Road H pipe ... it has strait through pipeing so it will sound ALOT nicer and meaner .... anyway you need the Cats " catalytic converters" to pass admissions , but take your car before you put the O/R h pipe on pass it , and then switch them just save your old H pipe with the catalytic converters on it for the next time you need to go to admissions , thasts your best bet ... might be a little rusty getting off just have some PB Blaster with you and hopefully an air rachet .. only 4 bolts at the top and 4 at the cat back

or just ask buddies of yours and people at work if they know a emissions man that will take a little bribe i found a guy that owns a little shop and every year he charges me 60 bucks on top of the 20 to do my emissions i just call him up he calls me when he has them done its alot better and less work to do that
