Default High volume fuel pumps

My gas gauge sender decided to go bye-byes so while I had the tank down, I thought I'd toss in a new fuel pump. I thought I'd upgrade since modifications are in the future. The car is stock now except for the exhaust and the K@N. My buddy said to skip the 110lph pump and go for 155lph or higher. Do any other mods have to be made for this? Can the stock pressure regulator handle the increase in volume? I mean, the excess fuel just gets sent back to the tank, right? Someday (when its needed) I'll get an adj. regulator, but for now I want to keep the stock one. Thanks
