Vacuum question 1990 GT
I'm swaping a 1990 5.0 into my wrangler and i'm curious about the vacuum and smog equipment. Mostly the valves on the passenger side fender well and how I can plug them. If I remove everythign but the EGR valve will the computer not throw a code?
Looking for some assisntance thanks

RE: Vacuum question 1990 GT
im not 100%.. but i thought i would chime in since i have a 90 5.0, and am a ex owner of a 89 jy wrangler which i was gonna put a 5.0 in.. i miss the jeep and am going to get another and drop a 5.0, so id like to know how this goes for you, what did you get the motor mounts from? any other info on the swap???
and by the way i think the computer will just put the check engine light on.. no biggy.

Thanks for responding, you dont know how hard it is to get someone to asnwer your questions.
My setup:
The motor I have is complte intake to oil pan front to back with all accessories with 67,000 origainl miles on it. www.car-part.com
AX-15 Trany out of a jeep cherokee- www.car-part.com
1987 F150 Bellhousing- external slave cylinder set up
164 tooth flywheel 87 F150 302
11" chevy clutch disc
11" ford pressure plate
231 Transfercase
Bellhousing adapter www.advaceadapters.com
Wiring harness, www.zandm.com
Cradle motor mount that bolts to factory 4cylinder frame mounts.....www.zandm.com, www.advanceadapters.com
Griffin 19x22 custom 2 row aluminum radiator
Stock mustang mechanical fan
I'll have to have my driveshaftes re-sleved and air-con hoses made and so on, I live in SW Florida so it is hot down here most of the year.
The rearend has to go, I'm swapping in an 8.8 out of an explorer with disc's and 31 splin shafts.
I'm running 4.10's right now with 33" BFG Muds but the future holds some 35" claws.
That is about it,
about the vacuum, when the computer turns the light on will it put it in limp mode?????????? I thought when it threw a code it would throw it in limp mode?
Thanks

RE: Vacuum question 1990 GT
no it shouldnt throw it in "limp" mode, im pretty sure anyways..im not an expert on this but no one else is trying to help you. ill try to ask some guys and find out better details for you, but i think this is gonna kick ***..post some pictures for sure.
so you had a 4cyl wrangler right? the 4:10s gears were factors i beleive right. maybe try for a rear from a ranger 4wd. it would have 31 splines, disks, posi rear and 3:73 gears, pretty much a perfect off road rear.

RE: Vacuum question 1990 GT
if youre going to stay EFI with the swap its going to be very very tricky to get the CEL to stay out. this doesnt however mean that the computer will go into limp mode. if it were me, i would swap to carb, and be done with it, much more reliable as a swap. you might be able to find someone that makes the HO EFI harness for this conversion, and i would start with summit and jegs. as for the rear end, i would go with the ranger also, but im never seen one with rear disc brakes???

RE: Vacuum question 1990 GT
I have all my emissions crap behind the pass strut tower unplugged and taken out and there is no check engine light. I also took off my egr and had to get one of those delete things from ebay.
if you get an egr delete tape it on the plug.
for a whild I had the check engine light come on sometimes, and right away I knew it was the plug.
