Default Ignition box, digital or analog?

I tried hooking up a MSD 6AL that came with the car, but it doesn't work so now I have to buy another (I've already bought the MSD wires and a ton of 10/12 gauge wire and connectors that I've already spliced up since I'm wiring it at the back of the hatch). Does it matter which type of circuitry I buy, digital or analog?
