Default 8.8 rearend f-150 vs. mustang

Does anyone know if the 3:73 ring gear and traction lock setup in my 93 mustang 8.8 will work in my 88 f-150 8.8?

no it wont, the mustangs use 28splined axles, the F150s use 31splines.

the ring and pinion will work, but you would have to get a 31 spline carrier. you can get them anywhere that sells limited slips. eaton, auburn, detroit, are just a few that sell the 31s. look at summit or jegs. summit sells the eaton for $489.

I would get a mini spoolIf you can live with the agravation of poor low speed turing, and the chirping of the tires.

Thanks for the help guys. I think I will definitly go with limited slip truck tires are to expensive to run a spool.

the mini spool isnt that bad, but it will wear the rear tires a good bit quicker, but makes for a hell of a burnout.
