Default 5 Lug Conversion issues....ugh.

ive got a 5 lug all wheel disk conversion on my 88 notch. Im running real 95 Cobra R wheels. On the fronts ive got 2 half inch spacers on each front wheel. im NOT running cobra brakes, just factory 94+ rotors. just recently somehow the spacers moved and began to break the lug studs off the hub, only on my drivers side front wheel. what would have caused this?

my mechanic showed me a new hubbed rotor on my wheel that broke them and you could move the rotor and hub while it was sitting in the wheel. he told me that because the cobra's had different hubs (i assumed cause of the brakes) that it caused my spacers to break the studs.

would it just be easier to find regular mustang wheels 94+? as opposed to cobra wheels. im pretty pissed off cause i like the wheels, and im not going back to 4 lug....i need help.

Why did you use the spacers? No the cobra's didn't have different hubs.

i bought the car with them on it. im almost sure they rub without the spacers. it rubbed a little even with the spacers on there. theyre 17x8's and i believe theres 235/45/17's BFG's on there. its weird though, the passenger side doesnt rub i dont think.

They shouldn't rub, not with 235's.

even with the wheel cut all the way to either side? hmm. either way it still cant be good that the hub can move inside the wheel. it moves a good half inch each direction when its sitting inside the wheel.

The hub can move inside the wheel.......so you are saying that the wholes where the studs come through are worn? Yea, replace the hub.

The wheels should work just fine with no problems. Have you even tried removing the spacers and see if they do? Pics????

you need to rely less on your mechanic, and more on us. Especially since MANY MF'ers live close to your area

Yea the lug holes on the rims are worn...they look sort of egg shaped, i havent taken off the passenger wheel to look. i just brought it to my mechanic because 3 of my 5 lug studs were broken by the time i was on my way to his shop. so i had to call a tow. when he was going to replace the hub, he showed me what was goin on and told me i should get different wheels. hmm

Yea Adder if your free sometime this week maybe you can come look at it and give me some advice. are you in the area at the moment?

You either
A have the wrong lug nuts and it wore out the wheel
B didn't have the lug nuts tight enough and trashed them
C the broken studs allowed the wheel to move too much.

Is it all the holes or just some of them?
