1989 GT-40 AL head swap
wonder if anyone has this problem. i installed on what was a bone stock 89 a set of brand new gt40 aluminum heads. went with a brand new cobra intake, new 19lb injectors, bbk Tb 65mm, and all new sensors associated with the install. car does not seem to have much more seat of the pants feel than before. car is an aod trans car. also installed new stock length pushrods and frpp 1.6 roller rockers, pedestal type. i know i set the valves following their instructions. could i be missing something? thanks!

19 lb'ers will easily support 300 rwhp. i have sprayed 100 on stock cars and ran 12.50's with no probs at all. so i dont think fuel.
"seat of the pants" is not a good indicator, you need to dyno it, or take it to the track. honestly the aod is gonna hold you back but you still should get the gain.
can you tell me your procedure for the rocker install?
how many turns did it take to torque them down..... and how did you adjust your torque wrench?
other than that... a 3k stall and sticky tires would work wonders for you now.
btw.. what gears do you have ?
without those things... you wont see the benefit of more hp cuz your powerband is so bad

rocker install procedure- i followed ford racing's instructions to the letter, using their I-C-E procedure, you know, intake closes, lash exhaust, etc. i had to use the thicker shim (.060) in order for the proper torque to be reached on all of them. without the shims the bolts would take a full turn and quarter, which FR said was no good. after using the shim, i was able to torque them down within half to 3/4 of a turn. the car runs really smooth, no idling issues or backfiring of any kind. just doesn't feel much different than the old stock heads. i thought of going with the 24's, but most people said it isn't necessary. the torque wrench used was a brand new craftsman.
