Question suspension problem

My problem is the car shimmys bad from 20mph up to 45mph then becomes unnoticeable at higher speeds. I need to replace my spindles and bearings, one is scored from bearing being not packed properly so I will do both sides to be equal. It seems to steer correctly and smoothly. I am noticing when I go onto uneven pavement from concrete to grass I can feel a thumping while driving on grass. Could my problem be bad lower ball joints and/or bad wheel bearings or something different? The tires are old and dry rotted, maybe unbalanced?
- Thanks, Dave

When you take car for new tires, ask them if suspension is tight so can get a alignment. All done in one stop.

where do you feel the thumping, is it in the seat of the pants or in the wheel, in my experience balljoints only have a feel in the stearing, its a shifting feeling when you're turning, the thumping could mean blown shocks, my fathers 5.0 made a lound clunk over bumps when the rear shocks blew out
