how much is your backlash set at? dose it wine or howl at all? do you have any play? glad to hear you got them in, my dad and i did mine, it makes a major diff in how the car pulls.

What is required to rebuild the traction lock? I was going to get the deluxe install kit from summit when I get my gears. Does this cover what I need or is there something else?

you have to buy the trac loc rebuild kit seperate. its easy, even for an ametuer. doing it right, is a differant story. if you get FMS gearsets you can 75% of the time reuse the stock carrier shims, but i wouldnt recommend doing it without a dial indicator to check for sure. hey DC what year is your car, and what speedo gear did you use to get the speedo right??

i used ford gears, and just measured the shimes in the t lok then used new ones the same size, the trac loc was simple, i had printed off the instructions stikied at the top of this forum, but they were useless, only thing i used from it was the torque ratings. i had access to anything i needed tho, even a lift. my backlash i beleive was .011 and its supposed to be .008-.015 i think, and nope no noise.. pretty simple, i used marking compund on the gears and it was going fine, didnt have to reshim at all.

I know the joy you are feeling. I just went from 3.08 to 4.30, and a wore out Traction Lock to a new Detroit Locker, WOW! With the new Lentech trans also, it is a totally new car. Have not been to the strip yet, but embarrassed a 04 Cobra last week with it, so I am happy.
