Default Camshaft question

I have a 85' Mustang GT convertable with a 347. Lately I've been thinking about trying out a new cam. I currently have a Comp Cam with 280 duration, 560 lift int.& exh.. I have a Edelbrock RPM heads, RPM air gap intake toped with a 750 Edelbrock carb. Would it be better to swap out with the RPM roller camshaft? There is quit abit of differences in specs, lower lift with higher duration, lobe seperation is different also. I've been trying to call Edelbrock but haven't had much luck getting through and have tried emailing but it doesn't go through. Would really like some opinions.

BTW, this is my first post and this is a really great site!!

What the duration at .50? And what year block do you have? I bet you would see some some gains with a split pattern cam. I would also ditch that Edelbrock carb, but thats just me.

It's the original 85 block. Duration at .050 is 223. Yeah, I catch alot of crap from friends for running the Edelbrock. It's just that it's a very easy to tune, troublefree carb. I have a Holley 750 and a Street Demon. The Holley always seems to leak within six months plus I've grown to hate vacuum secondarys. Something's not right with the Demon, I put it on and the car smokes really bad, take off the carb and it looks like you just dumped raw fuel on the bottom of it. I've tried everything, jetting it down, Powervalve block, float adjustments and it still does it.

The car does run very well, guess I'm just wondering what a cam that is matched to my intake and heads would be like.

i would go with way more cam than that, what does your motor redline at, or stop pulling at. with the setup you have minus the cam you could run easy 6500rpm, that cam is probably done around 5800. with the carb you could go with an Fcam, and gain a lot of topend over your current setup.
