pressure plate issue
Yesterday I installed a new Ram HDX clutch kit. The instructions said the pressure plate bolt torque should be 25ft lbs for a 5/16 bolt and 35ft lbs for a 3/8 bolt. I didn't know which size it was, but a co-worker said they were 3/8 so I torqued to 35ft lbs...they're actually 5/16 and should've only been torqued to 25ft lbs...can this mess things up??? i.e. not allow the clutch to fully engage. I am having to tighten the crap out of the adj. clutch cable to get the tob adjusted properly and allow for smooth shifting. thanks

would you think that you'd have to tighten up on the cable a bunch due to it being a stiffer clutch...stiffer pressure plate "fingers/springs" i mean there is NO play in the clutch fork. and i know for sure the cable isn't stretched. it all feels fine, but the tob is riding on the pressure plate "fingers/springs"
