A CAT back system is referring to a Catalytic converter system back exhaust like a 99 t 04. But the cats are located in a different spot on the 05 to 09's so most of the exhaust systems are referred to as a axelback which is just that, it's a exhaust system from the rear axel going back, usually including the mufflers or muffler deletes running to the exhaust tips.

Ok so if a 95 gr doesn't have axle backs that means its missing?

Not necessarily. A lot of people use the terms interchangably.

Plus there are soo many different type of exhaust setup's and terms it's not even funny.
