Default idle jumps majorly = automatic stickshift? :)

Hah so just got this 89 GT an got it running all nice sounds great but only problem im having is something with the idle or some sensor is goin bad becuase when i gas it or sometimes even when i let it idle the rpms start going up an staying around 2000 sometimes 1 1/2 or a lil above 1 but i mean it totally feels like my throttle is like stuck open but its not..and its not the cable from the gas pedal to throttle an just in case i used wd40 on the return spring but the throttle return is nice an strong so dunno wat this problem could be any ideas?? its a stock gt 5point exept for a/c delete, underdrive pullys an sport short shifter an im sure the problem doesnt dwell in any of those...think its my computer going bad or??i cleand my iac wit seafoam an tried adjusting the tps but stock throttle position sensor like do not adjust so running outta ideas...thanks for the insight this site is so helpful
