its all you man, sounds like you have some pretty bad blow by, I would still do a compression test to make sure, it might help if you put in a heavier weight oil for the time being

Its a leak down test that needs to be performed to really see what is leaking, not a compression test.

That i know, I was saying see if he has compression, if he doesn't it would be pretty obvious the motor was trashed. If you want to explain to him how to do a leak down go right ahead, I was just giving him the easy one first.

He can use google to figure that part out. A compression test won't tell you anything about the rings alone but how the whole compression of each cylinder. You can get good compression and still have worn piston rings.

Cylinder 1- 140psi clean
Cylinder 2- 120psi clean
Cylinder 3- 135psi semi oil
Cylinder 4- 125psi clean
Cylinder 5- 140psi oil
Cylinder 6- 135psi clean
Cylinder 7- 135psi clean
Cylinder 8- 125psi oil

The look ok, a couple are a little lower than I like (the 120 ones) but they aren't terrible, so that test didn't offer a definite answer, do a google search on how to do a leak down test and see if you want to go through the trouble, the oil has to be coming from somewhere so there is a problem, it will just take more work to figure it out.
