Default 91 GT spark knock

I got a 91 GT with a 95 5.0 with gt40 heads and intake. It sounds like it has a bad spark knock during acceleration and sometimes it's hard to crank. I checked for vacuum leaks and didn't find any. I don't have a timing light since I've never had a use for one. So I'll have to get one to see what the timing is set at.

What's the suggested timing and plugs to run in this?

stock timing is 10°, I like being between 12-14 on a mostly stock engine.

and run Autolite 764 copper plugs

Thanks! Could you lay down the process of setting the base timing? Newb to 5.0's

I did a bunch of searching. I found the firing order. But I don't know what the spout is. I'm going to replace the plugs with the 764's tomorrow. I seen that you can lock in the timing by keeping the spout out. I also don't know what TFI is.

I'm a ls1 guy, no dizzys for me. It's all computer COP shiza. Thanks for the help.
