Question Cracked Floor???

So I pulled my carped up in my car before I paint so I don't have any interior except the dash to worry about when jamming it. It was pretty rusty on the passenger side. I was using a wire wheel to get some rust off before applying Por-15 on the floor. Then I found this.

Passenger side

Also on the driver side

How worried should I be about this? I plan on having full length sub frames welded in. Should I just weld the cracks to seal them and not worry about it?

You can see the location of the crack in this picture. Left side towards the bottom.

Also, regarding the por-15, I was just brushing it on. I used Prep-All to wipe it down after using a scotch brite pad on it. It looked like I was getting real bad fisheyes. If I scuffed the por-15 and re-applied would fisheyes appear again or would it cover them and seal it good? Anyone know?

322 views and your the only reply haha.

Thanks, I'm sure your right, you always seem to know your stuff! I need to get a plug for my wire welder so I can use it instead of our stick.

The results can be Great if done right. I used the "silver" por 15 and than applied Tie-Coat Primer and top coated with a rust oleum red color.... Just do the 'PROPER PREPARATION here ya go ..

I used my mig welder, a stick/ arc welder would be a pain and you'd have to turn it down low and use a skinny rod, not sure of the type needed, for the welds that often break on my plow iirc I use 6013 but then again that's heavy metal

I had the same thing happen when I owned my 83. I just cleaned up the cracks real well and welded it using a mig. Lasted for years until I sold it. I don't know how true this is, but I was told this was a pretty common problem on the fox body cars.

i welded mine. it was cracking so bad that i didn't even notice it until i was vacuuming and lifted the mats up. i had noticed it for a while before that. it always sounded like something wasn't right, because i could actually hear the exhaust coming up into the passenger side. it was also how i found out my ball joints were bad. it took a few minutes, and i had it done no problem.

Mig weld. Tig will burn through, more than likely. I had to mig the driver's seat studs back in on my car. The big bastard that owned my car before must have stood on the clutch and ripped two seat mounts out of the floor.

Welds are stronger than the metal, btw.... if done right.
