NEED HELP My shifter is stuck!
#13
the factory shifter does not have positive stops in it. There is a common failure in the T-45 of the 96+, where itll over shift and jam up internally. It isnt as common of a failure in the T5... but it DOES happen. Dont start forcing stuff, thats how things bend and break. The tailshaft housing needs to be removed from the trans, then the upper cover needs to come off. Once it is opened up, you can move the sliders around and reset the shift forks. then you just seal it up and put it back together.

if you have NEVER done anything mechanical like this before, I would suggest you bring i to a pro.
If you were anywhere local to me, I'd open it up for you and let you know whats wrong, and it wouldnt cost you all too much either.

So this mite be a stupid question but how do I tell if my sycros are in a nuetral position? I bought some books to help me with this issue and am putting the tranny back together. The book says to have my sycros in nuetral so I can put the top on it. Should i be able to spin the input/output shaft in gear?
