5.0L (1979-1995) Mustang Technical discussions on 5.0 Liter Mustangs within. This does not include the 5.0 from the 2011 Mustang GT. That information is in the 2005-1011 section.

I need some advice on how to get better gas milage? any help?

When I changed from 2.73 gears to 3.55's back around 1990, It didn't hurt my Mileage at all. Still got around 20mpg. @ 62mph, the gear swap only increased 5th gear rpm by 300. Went from 1500 to 1800. Picked up 4/10th in the 1/8 mile though!!
So switching from 3.73 back to 2.73 will save very little fuel. It would take many years of driving to make up the cost of the gear swap in fuel savings. Adder's theory is correct. I have seen it with my own eyes.
