C4 Kickdown questions
Hey guys, been a while, but I have a question in regards to my transmission.
My Mighty Demon carb does not have a spot for a trans kickdown linkage, what is it effecting by leaving it off, or what would it do if I just tie it back? It has a TCI Auto/manual Valvebody and I ALWAYS shift it manually.
The car is a street car that see's a fair bit of track use... pushing around 425 HP at the crank and running a 3000 stall converter.
Any help would be appreciated.

If you shift it manually all the time then it has no ill affect. Its purpose is to kick the transmission down into a lower gear when the accelerator is depressed to a certain point or to open the throttle automatically when the transmission is slowing down and downshifting on its own. If you were to leave it in 2nd or 3rd when you come to a stop you will be trying to take off in 2nd or third gear when you go again.
Basically if you plan on shifting it all the time then don't worry about it. Even after I put the kickdown cable on my 83 I still rowed the gears all the time.

I thought the kickdown also upped the line pressure on the trans when it was depressed? So theoretically with it depressed I should notice harder shifts??? I shift it manually because in drive you end up in 3rd at 30 MPH and my engine don't like that lol. I don't need to shift until 3500 or so at the soonest.

No, a shift kit ups line pressures by modifying the valve body.
A kick down is just a cable (or rod) that is attached to the carb that pulls (or pushes) on the kick down lever on the trans. That lever is aligned with a plunger in the valve body so when it is moved so far is causes the trans to down shift.
