Default QA-1 struts on 1981 Don't fit?

the strut is to big at the bottom..
any suggestions?

anyone swap to 1987 and up knuckles?

They are designed for the 87+ 5.0 spindles. Bad thing about the 79-82 is that they are the odd ball when it comes to added aftermarket stuff sometimes. When it comes to this however its the same 79-86 anyway.

Try going somewhere and getting the spacers that come with Lakewood struts.
They are maybe 1/8th inch thick and fit on both sides of the lower strut where they bolt on.

Those are needed to put lake woods on the 87+5.0 spindle. You could also just use some washers.....

BUT to clarify what part is too big exactly??

the bottom of the QA1 struts,
so they hit the steering back section on the knuckle..

wont allow me to use the bottom bolt (of the 2 bolts the bolt the knuckle to the strut)

Ahhh ok, difference reason than what we were talking about. You need to just swap your spindles
