8.8inch rear end swap question
Hello I have a 88 mustang lx that used to be a 4cyl car (now has v8) but i am at the point where im ready to swap the wussy 28 spline axles and 7.5 inch rear end for the beefier 8.8 inch and 31 spline axles. Now i have found a complete 8.8 inch rear end including 31 spline axles out of another 5.0 mustang and i was wondering would this swap include anything other than disconnecting and reconnecting the brake system to the new axle or would i have to do some sort of fabrication in order for the rear end to bolt in? it would be great if this was a simple unbolt and rebolt application but i want to be sure before i try the swap. Thankyou for all your answers (and the both axles are 4 lug so no 5 lug fabrication needed)

31 spline will not work in an oem equipped 8.8 with the oem trac loc, you'll need to swap out the diff unit to accept 31 spline other than that an 8.8 will bolt right into a 4 cyl car, you'll have to reconfigure the brake line if running dual tail pipes

thanks for the reply, so maybe im a little confused the 4 cyl v8 both have 28 spline axles already? so i could keep my axles and just swap out the 8.8 rear end out of another 5.0?.
so the 5.0's have 8.8 inch diff with 28 spline axles? i got confused then i thought they had 8.8 with 31 spline.
