I think it all depends on where you take it......IMO it's the few bad that give the gross generalization that " most" are bad...what I've come to see here on forums is that a good number of 5.0 owners are youngin's who often don't have two nickels to rub together and they take their ride to the lowest bidder.....The cheapest guy IMO is a bad philosophy to follow.....he's cheap for one reason...low overhead = often inexpensive/inexperienced techs hired, which ther in lies the prob of quality......Personally, If I didn't work on cars , I'd look for someone who knows these cars

you could check the timing, but make sure all the wires are pushed down on the cap as well as down on the plugs, make sure anything the mech would of had off to do the intake is in it's proper place

The irony here is that what you paid a mechanic to do, your now checking again for mistakes. Fortunately mjr gives good advise and the knowledge gained is priceless. Keep us informed on what actually fixes your problem. I like to see how every situation ends.
