Default squeaky smog pump

The stang has had a little squeak on the serpentine for a little while now, however it is not always constant, seems to do it when it is first started and while driving around for a bit after, then it stops..

while changing the starter the other day i got a closer listen under the hodo and it sounds like its the smog pump, is there a quick fix to this or am i looking at getting a new smog pump?

Thanks.

hit the belt with a little spray lube and see if the noise quits..if it does = belt is the issue, or bypass the smog pump if you think that is the cause and see if noise stops

I bought a new smog pump and when i put the pulley on it and spun it by hand it chirped or squeeked, in the instructions that came with the pump it stated that it is normal for a new smog pump to squeek for the first 500 miles until broken in. I don't know if your pump is new.

Use stethoscope to pin point noise. Take belt off turn pump in proper direction by hand and see if it is noisy. No fix for pump, replace. Yes, new one may make some noise until broke in.
