Default valve spring lift measuring

I am changing out my cam and I was told I needed new valve springs due to the part number for my heads say they have a single spring but from what my springs look like I have double so now I need to get them measured for lift. Is this something I can do myself or do I need to get a machine shop to do it

If the inner spring is a flat sort of design, you do NOT have double springs.
You just have a single spring with a dampener in it.
A dual spring will have 2 coil springs, one inside the other.....

springs are checked via a special micrometer that checks installed height, but more so important is seat pressure...sometimes to get the proper seat pressures, installed height may vary a little from what the manufactorer states. also coil bind must be checked
