question about stripping/sanding fiberglass and plastic on body
Alright i have stripped down my mustang on the hood which is an aftermarket fiberglass one and the front bumper, rear bumper, and the wing. The question is, since my mustang has had about 5 different layers of paint throughout the years added to it how far down should i go. I know i dont need to go down to bare plastic/fiberglass since these parts dont rust but im at the point where the paint is really spotty and some plastic/fiberglass is showing, would this be enough for paint or do i need to go lower before painting?

All that is really needed is to be smooth . If the paint is peeling (bad prep previously) it sould be totally stripped. You'll be doing it again next year because the paint is coming up again. Smoothness is the key and taking the proper steps. Use many grits of paper but it shouldn't be necessary to totally strip it. Scuff it, prime it, resand it for smoothness and paint it. It's alot of work and you might want to have a pro do it for you. It will probably cost less. $300 in paint and matierals + the number of hours just so you can screw it up and do it again. Meanwhile a pro could do it in a day for $400 and you won't have to worry about it again. Sorry, but that's the truth. I've done it. Good luck with it.
