ECU problems... Car shutting off...
Recently i took my 5.0 in for a new transmission and when i went to fire it up the car would'nt turn over. The battery is new so i automatically thought it was the alternator. Told my mechanic to check it out when i towed it over and upon picking it up he told me that it was the "ECU'... Now MF members im no expert so go light on me but i told him to replace it... It ended up tacking on another 400 to get the job done but this is where it all goes wrong. The stang ran with no problems for less than a week and then at a stop light it completly died on me. Same issue. Sounds like it wants to turnover but won't. Ive taken it back and insisted he fix it for free since its the same problem but its extremly annoying. Does anyone know what it could be...? All power items work... windows, locks, stereo, the engine just wont come alive...

sounds like you got a couple (or more) problems going on, the ECU doesnt need to be operational just for the engine to turn over, I would check your wiring, ignition switch, starter, etc. And for it just dying out, it could be the ECU (but you changed it), sounds like the TFI module though, check for fuel pressure too. Most often times could be the temp sending unit on the heater core tubing rail too.

Sounds like you've got a bad PIP. Pop your distributor cap off and look inside for rust, also see if there is excessive play in the shaft... If you can wiggle it even the slightest bit, its time for a new distributor.
